BOOKISH | Bloggers Made Me Read It – Fantasy Series Edition

I mentioned in my post about finding new reads that one way of finding new books to read for me is from blogs. There are a lot of books that I decided to read because of the hype surrounding them in the book community or because of the continuous good reviews of the book, both on blogs or Goodreads. So today, I thought I will share with you five series that I decided to read because of the bloggers!

throne of glass crown of midnight heir of fire queen of shadows empire of storms sarah j maas

Throne of Glass Series – Sarah J. Maas. I think it’s fair to say that Throne of Glass series is really one of the most hyped books in book blogger community. It’s almost like you’ll find at least one post about the series in almost everyone’s blog. I had my hesitation reading the series at first, but thank God I picked it up because it’s SO good. I was scared that it was too hyped up, but I’d say it deserves all the excitement around the series.

A Court of Thorns and Roses Series – Sarah J. Maas. Another series but Sarah J. Maas but again, ACOTAR series is also very hyped up in the book community. I saw so many bloggers posted about this series. I picked this up after Throne of Glass, and again, thank God I decided to ignore my scepticism and got it because it’s also so good. I talk more about the books in my review for A Court of the Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury and I’m currently reading A Court of Wings and Ruin. I’m not ready for this series to end!

the crown series kiera cass the selection the elite the one the heir the crown

The Selection Series – Kiera Cass. We’ve already established that I’m a sucker for royal fictions so I’ve always wanted to read The Selection series when I first saw the book during a bookstore visit. But I was hesitant to take it because it sounds quite dramatic for a young adult romance. Thankfully, the endless posts about the series that I came across on social media changed my mind and I grabbed it.  I’ve only reviewed The Crown on the blog, but I read every book in the series. Honestly, it exceeds my expectations. It wasn’t bad at all! I have mixed feelings on certain books, but overall it was a good reading experience.

the dark artifices shadowhunters cassandra clare lady midnight lord of shadows

The Dark Artifices Series – Cassandra Clare. I’m a fan of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. However, I wasn’t in the fandom so I wasn’t very up to date with what’s happening until one day I saw a blogger post about The Dark Artifices. I had mixed feelings when it was first announced because I was surprised that Cassandra Clare would write more books set in the Shadowhunter world and I was worried that it will change my opinion on the world. I saw some people are really against it and I’m not one of them but I was just sceptical on how the book would be. So imagine how surprised I was when I read Lady Midnight and ended up really liking it because it’s actually good! I really enjoy going back to the Shadowhunter world and meet the other characters. I think Cassandra Clare succeeds in bringing us back to the same world but with a different feel to it. Definitely, a pleasant surprise and Lord of Shadows is up on my tbr!

the lunar chronicles marissa meyer cinder scarlet cress winter

The Lunar Chronicles Series – Marissa Meyer. Another really loved book in the bookish community, the Lunar Chronicles series. I’m probably the only one who hasn’t read the whole series. I’ve only read Cinder so far and I can see why people love it. The twist in classic fairytales are always interesting to me and this one is a really good one! I plan to read the other books in the series when I got the time so they are all also up on my tbr.

Which fantasy series did you read because of bloggers? Let me know in the comment below!

  1. This is very relatable. I’m going to read the ACTOR series because it’s been recommended to me by so many wonderful bloggers, and I’ve been wanting to read it for the longest. The Lunar Chronicles is a great series!!

I’m new to blogging and book reviewing, and I was wondering if you had any tips for newbie bloggers and book reviewers.

If you have the time, please check out my blog @breenysbooks. I’d love any feedback. Have a wonderful day.
