When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

After reading many rave reviews of the series, I decided to give the book a shot and VOILA! You have a new fan of the book.

Before I started reading the book, I watched an interview with Sarah J. Maas about this series and she said how ACOTAR is some sort of retelling of Beauty and the Beast, if Belle has sisters. So in terms of romance, you know what’s going to happen. The main character, Feyre, was taken and she will fall for the beast, in this case a High Fae named Tamlin.

I had high expectations of the book and I wasn’t disappointed! I was hooked from the start of the book. It was an amazing introduction to the world and given the storyline, it did feel dark. Though I have to say that the first parts of the book felt a little slow and not many things happen, though I understand why it was the way it was. I’m in love with the Fae world. I was really excited to see the other courts.

Now, characters. FEYRE IS INSANE but in a good way! That’s all I’m going to say because I’m not sure I can elaborate that without spoiling you. But she is definitely up there in my list of favourite heroine. Meanwhile, Tamlin at the beginning of the book didn’t impress me at all. He’s just very typical for me. But after reading those scenes in the second half of the book, OK I GOT IT WHY FEYRE IS ATTRACTED TO YOU. My favourite character, though? Lucien. He’s so snarky I love it.

I love the whole Amarantha storyline! Not that I like her or anything, but it made the whole book more gripping. Those last scenes though; my heart was beating so fast reading the whole thing. Good job, Sarah J Maas!

ACOTAR is definitely a must read for every dystopian/fantasy lover. It has the perfect mix of action and romance. Some things are questionable, but I’m pretty sure they would be answered in the next books. So glad I decided to give in and read the book because NO REGRETS PEOPLE!! Everyone should go grab this book and read it!
